While it wouldn't surprise me if a company were so full of jerks that they wouldn't really give their people enough advance notice of moving to a different country, I do find it a little hard to believe. It usually takes weeks, sometimes months, to get a work visa for another country. So unless they paid to have visas expedited, which they could have, I doubt there wasn't more than 3 weeks advance notice.
